CMM & Scanning Programmer

Llanelli

3 shifts (Days afternoon and Nights)

£26,000 - £29,700 +15.6% shift allowance (£4000 - £4633)

Responsible for:

Metrology measurement of pressings, fixtures, sub-assemblies and final assemblies

Tasks

  • To ensure that all requests on dimensional assessments/capabilities are dealt with in a most efficient manner

  • To ensure optimum use of all inspection equipment suitable to the task

  • Identify any product or process non-conformity and potential improvement ideas.

  • To establish CMM programmes in a most effective way against customer or internal requirements

  • To assist on dimensional problem resolution as and when required by quality, engineering or production personnel. Be an active member of concern investigation teams.

  • To ensure that all inspection equipment and facilities within the Department is kept in a serviceable condition

  • Supervise other CMM & Scanning operators

  • Set standards / supply correct documentation / train personnel regarding any metrology requirement

  • Ability to advise on all metrology issues

  • Ability to understand and evaluate the latest Metrology equipment

  • Ability to be flexible and redirect attention at short notice between complex program to support customer

  • Ability to respond quickly to quality concerns that are potential customer line-stoppers.

  • Ability to clearly define dimensional error / problem. Using Presentation format where necessary.

Requirements

  • A good working knowledge of metal forming and fabrication processes.

  • Previous Metrology experience ideally in Pc-Dmis / Coreview measurement software,

  • SPC knowledge advantageous.

  • Previous Metrology experience ideally in quality function of a fast moving automotive manufacturing environment

  • Good working knowledge of CMM and / or scanning techniques with the ability to supervise others

Abilities:

  • Numerical Reasoning/Interpreting Data

  • Data stratification

  • Fault finding/Problem solving

  • CAD model / drawing evaluation

Knowledge and experience

  • The ability to cope with the pressures of a demanding manufacturing environment

  • Must have a confident approach to effectively deal with a variety of people within the business structure

  • Good interpersonal and organization skills, ability to pay close attention to detail

  • To have self motivation, confident and proactive attitude

Qualifications

  • ONC/HNC engineering discipline would be advantageous

  • Pc-Dmis/Coreview or Equivalent CMM/scan Programming

  • 3 GCSE's at grade C or above and must include Maths.
