Job Summary - Band 6 role

The Communications Officer will be an enthusiastic communicator, with a nose for a good

story, passion for great content, flair for making connections and a commitment to making staff feel

proud, our patients and community feel reassured that they will be receiving safe and high-quality care from the Trust and that and our stakeholders understand the Trust's vision and goals.

The post holder will play a key role in contributing to the Trust's communications strategy by

developing, implementing, and evaluating communication plans as well as being responsible for the

delivery of business as usual communications via our Trust channels.

The post holder will be up to speed with communication best practice and come armed with ideas

about how we include this. They will be dedicated to their learning and development, advancing their skills, and sharing this knowledge. They will also be an advocate for our Trust brand and seek out profile raising opportunities through their public relations skills.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop a proactive approach to gathering good news stories, interviews, and case studies from around the Trust specifically for external audiences.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate communications plans and campaigns to support key Trust-wide initiatives.
  • Develop and implement communications plans for projects both internal and external to the Trust
  • Support the handling of media enquiries - and protecting the reputation of the organisation with considered and well-balanced responses.
  • Responsibility for proactively placing media stories showcasing the Trust's positive stories.
  • Operationally managing filming and photography duties as required.
  • Produce business as usual external communications products.
  • Provide expert communications advice and support to colleagues across the Trust, developing relationships with key staff.
  • Lead on the production of high-quality communication materials, including social and digital media, to support campaigns and initiatives across the Trust.
  • Contribute to the development of corporate communication channels, such as internal channels, corporate social media channels and the Trust's magazine, Countess Matters.
  • Assisting in the co-ordination, production and publication of key documents.
