Job Description

We are looking for a candidate to join our team as an IT Linux Systems Engineer.

Summary of Role

Are you looking for an exciting role and your next challenge? Then come and join us as an IT Linux Systems Engineer based at our Bridgend manufacturing site. Supporting all areas of the business to ensure an overall delivery of seamless IT 24/7 operation and working closely with local and globally located IT teams.

Your future Duties and Responsibilities:

Builds, maintains, and supports virtual and physical UNIX / Linux operating systems in a distributed enterprise environment.
Support the local site NAS / SAN based storage systems.
Responsible for 24x7 monitoring, maintenance, support of production system problems and responds to escalated support requests.
Creates and maintains accurate, up-to-date documentation.
Provide support and assistance to the UNIX production tools based environment within our manufacturing area.
Builds and maintains an effective system image backup environment

The above list is not exhaustive, with flexibility to carry out other related duties at the request of your Manager.

Your required Qualifications and Experience to be successful in the role:

Experience with UNIX/Linux systems (CentOS, Red Hat, Solaris, Ubuntu and Rocky
Linux variants) o Security and patching configuration and methods on Linux systems
(iptables, firewall-cmd) o Linux File System Types(xfs, ext4) o Linux Logical Volume Manager a plus
Knowledge, administration and implementation of authentication systems AD, LDAP, Kerberos & IDM
Knowledge of installing and operating UNIX / Linux systems in a VM environment
Knowledge and administration with network storage including NAS and SAN systems would be a plus as would knowledge and experience of iSCSI and multipathing in a VM environment.
Strong troubleshooting ability
Interacting positively with other staff and management
Must be capable of independent problem-solving and self-direction
Experience in a combination of infrastructure and minor networking roles.
Degree or equivalent in related field or equivalent qualified by previous experience

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Ideally, the successful jobholder will have shown proven expertise in a previous role or environment.

Some travel maybe required.

Remuneration Package
40 hours per week Monday to Friday covering between 8am 16:30pm. You will also be required to be available as and when there is system downtimes which may include weekends.
Annual Salary we offer a competitive salary
