Job Description

Vibe Recruit have a fantastic oppoeruntiy for a NPD & Process Development Manager for our well-established client based in Port Talbot.

Description

Responsible for trouble-shooting existing manufacturing issues and optimising existing and proposed manufacturing processes. And for driving the success of new product development (NPD), new product introduction (NPI) and existing product development (EPD) for the business. The role will also oversee the management of specific projects from initial concept to final launch with inter-department support. This role is vital to maintaining and supporting sustainable growth within the business.

Core responsibilities

NPD and NPI

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously to maximise productivity, meet concurrent customer requests and ensure business growth can be achieved.
  • Establish NPI timelines and work to deadlines to meet evolving customer demands.
  • Communicate deadlines through regular meeting updates to ensure projects deliver on time.
  • Complete the factory trial request paperwork and subsequent trial write-up report to inform the production team and highlight issues early to allow us to resolve them efficiently.
  • Identify additional resource/equipment needed for the production lines to meet NPD/I requirements
  • Consider the various constraints and complexities involved with introducing new product and packaging concepts into the factory environment.
  • Check and approve introduction of new BOMs into manufacturing system (SAGE).
  • Carry out and/or supervise any necessary lab work required.

Process Development

  • Responsible for development and introduction of improvements for existing products from reformulations and/or driving improvement from inefficient production to increase business efficiency.
  • Responding to requests from the manufacturing team to 'trouble-shoot' production issues.
  • Documenting and updating production work instructions and procedures.
  • Check and approve change controls for updates to existing products into manufacturing system (SAGE).
  • To continually develop understanding of tabletting, encapsulation and liquid manufacturing processes.
  • To take a proactive approach to ensure processes and actions are completed on time and product standards are updated accordingly.
  • To have strong verbal and written interpersonal skills to effectively communicate information to all organisational levels both internally and externally.

Essential requirements

  • Educated to degree level in a science or food related discipline, ideally to Masters level.
  • Attention to detail and leadership qualities.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing procedures in a factory environment.
  • Team member who can communicate effectively at all organisational levels and with customers.
  • Capable of managing broad and demanding workload to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Flexible and proactive approach.
  • Knowledge of critical paths.
