Tendering Engineer

Tendering Engineer (Capital Equipment) £30-40,000 plus benefits depending on exp.
Overview
Operating within an effective tendering team to validate enquiries coming into the business and accurately interpret customer specifications that allows accurately priced and technically compliant offers to be generated such that the success of converting an enquiry into a profitable order is increased.

Key responsibilities:
Undertake the effective development and preparation of commercial and technical Offers across the range of products that enhances the prospect of securing orders for the business.
Effectively assess and validate incoming enquiries to identify the ability to offer, to enhance the success of such offers.
Liaise with Key Account Managers, Business Development Managers to ensure an understanding of timescales and tactics in the preparation of offers.
Liaise with Engineering and Production departments to ensure technical aspects of customers' requirements are met in the most cost-effective manner.
Reviewing tender Terms and Conditions and arriving at appropriate clarifications and exceptions as necessary, in consultation with legal/risk management.
Providing oversight in the preparation and compilation of all documents and control the quality and accuracy of the bid.
To develop, negotiate and agree/confirm contract specifications with a variety of external groups, including contractors, end-users and OEM companies.
Attend resulting meetings for technical clarifications and commercial negotiations.
Assist in the preparation of order handover documentation in a timely manner to enable contract engineering to execute the contract.
Undertake regular and accurate updating of various management systems (e.g. CRM).

Qualifications/Experience
Degree level education in an Engineering discipline is preferred, however education to an HNC level with equivalent experience will be considered.
Possess a sound engineering education and background.
Previous experience in an engineering tendering role is also essential.
Basic knowledge of contractual terms and conditions.
Computer literacy in Microsoft Excel and Word is essential
A strong understanding of the electrical/mechanical components and features associated with engineering products and particularly an awareness of product limitations.
Other Information
The role is predominantly office based, however occasional travel (including overnight) will be required to attend specification clarification meetings with consultants, contractors and end clients.
