CYP Domestic Abuse Support Worker
Job description
Suitable candidates must have experience working with children within domestic abuse services.
It would be advantageous if you hold a driving licence and have your own car as the role involves travelling to schools in the Swansea area and working in the office.
Hours: 28 hours per week worked over 4-5 days
This role is for 1 month initially, with a possible extension until July 31st 2026, extended on a month by month basis.
You would need to have a valid Child & Adult DBS on the update service.
- Previous recent experience of working with children and families.
- Experience of 1 : 1 sessions and group work.
- Ability to identify and respond to the specific emotional and practical needs of children and young people.
- Supporting children & young people suffering from/been exposed to domestic abuse.
- Establish and maintain accurate up to date records
Essential:
- NVQ Level 3 in Childcare or working towards one.
- Experience of supporting women & children from differing cultural and social backgrounds.
- Understanding/experience of the causes and the long term effects of domestic abuse.
- Experience of managing challenging behaviour and conflict.
Desirable:
- Ability to speak Welsh
- Good understanding/experience/qualification of Mental Health, Self-Harm, Drug/Alcohol Abuse, LGBTQ+, Counselling
