We are currently recruiting for a Finishing Shop Machine Operator to join an international, leading provider of Heat Treatments in Newport working day shifts. The is a fantastic opportunity to join the production team to efficiently operate manual grinding equipment to produce finished ground components in line with customer requirements.

As a Finishing Shop Machine Operator, you will:

  • Be responsible for setting up and operating a variety of finishing equipment (cylindrical / surface / polishing).
  • Carry out routine operator maintenance tasks.
  • Ensure that components are finished accordingly to the quality standards, customer drawings, and process documents for each application.
  • Inspect parts before and after processing to ensure preceding operations have been carried out correctly and to verify that your own work has met the required standards.
  • Gain a thorough understanding, through training provided and experience, of the factors that affect coating quality and be able to use that knowledge to ensure components are processed to approved methods.
  • Operate in a safe manner and undertake any training necessary to enable you to fulfil the requirements of your position.

Qualifications and skills:

  • Previous experience of setting and operating manual cylindrical, and surface grinding machines.
  • Previous experience of grinding tungsten carbide coatings.
  • Experience in reading engineering drawings.
  • Competent in the use of measuring equipment and measuring techniques.

  • £30,000 - £35,000 p/a.
  • Pension match contribution from 4% - 10%.
  • Life assurance - 2 x annual salary rising to 4 x if joining company pension.
