Packaging Engineer

Vibe Recruit's client based in Abertillery, are looking to aapoint an experienced Packaging Engineer on a full time, permanent contract, working for a global supplier.

The ideal candidate will have the drive and initiative to own, lead, initiate and support projects relating to their incoming, internal and external packaging/ stillage requirements.

You will be an excellent communicator who has a solution orientated mindset to centrally support a cross-functional team that includes Project Engineering, Production, Quality and Supply Chain across 3 sites in the UK and Europe.

This a newly created position with a fantastic opportunity to 'own' the role and drive opportunities for improvement in efficiency, cost and sustainability.

Your Responsibilities

• Supporting the Project Engineering, Production and Quality teams in ensuring packaging/ stillaging is designed effectively, taking into account all stakeholder needs such as delivery/ storage/ ergonomic and Health & Safety considerations.
• Leading packaging design relating to NPI projects, defining all requirements up front and ensuring project timelines are met.
• Review supplier packaging and where required define bespoke packaging solutions to maximise transport and storage capacity.
• Design, draw and validate packaging in relation to the above and ensuring efficiency by performing containerisation analysis, safe working loads etc. and ensuring the product is protected where required.
• Develop, review and monitor packaging design processes and procedures, continually challenging common practices and driving standardisation.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum 5 GCSEs including Maths and English at Grade C or above
• Ideally educated to degree level in Manufacturing or similar Engineering discipline
• FEA Analysis experience (static and dynamic forces during transportation)
• Excellent communication skills and experience with multi- functional teams to formulate objectives and action plans
• Packaging testing procedures and regulations
• Strong in packaging design, creating packaging/ stillaging concepts using Solidworks/ CAD software
• Problem solving skills
