Tool Maker Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the efficient repair and servicing of all moulds, jigs, fixtures, and extruded parts, to maintain production requirements and standards.
  • Manufacture spare parts, both to drawing and through means of using own initiative, by taking measurements of existing parts and making new ones to the same standard.
  • Achieve the highest possible standard of polish, on bought in parts and moulds, to maintain the company's high standard of quality required on all products.
  • Inspect externally manufactured components to drawing and check compatibility to existing moulds.
  • Maintain or advise, when necessary, the condition of sub-contracted moulds.
  • Ensure that all equipment is maintained in a safe and reliable condition.
  • Carry out and record any periodic PPM checks which have been allocated and for which he/she is competent.
  • Assist in any training of other Production Technicians and to attend any training courses deemed necessary to enhance skill level.
  • Always ensure safe working practices and adhere to any department rules and regulations.
  • Inform Management of any occurrence or foreseeable occurrence likely to cause a breakdown.
  • Ensure wastage of material is kept to a minimum.
  • Carry out mould PPM's when required.
  • Carry out core/insert changes as required.
  • Ensure workplace is kept clean and tidy.
  • Ensure compliance with all Company rules and regulations, and maintain a high standard of housekeeping.
  • Ensure manufacturing adheres to and conforms with the required technical and quality specifications in line with the Company's ISO 9000 quality systems.
  • Comply in accordance with Company's Policies on Health and Safety.
  • Support the development of 5S activities to maintain the highest levels of hygiene and housekeeping.
  • Support lean manufacturing programme in conjunction with PPI team.
  • Be fully committed to concept of teamwork in all aspects of the job function.
  • Carry out any reasonable requests that are required to achieve the overall purpose of the job. to comply with the terms and conditions of employment operating throughout the company.

Tool Maker Experience / Skills:

  • Engineering/technical background.
  • 5 years' experience in similar role.
  • Formal Indentured Apprenticeship.
  • Minimum of 5 GCSE grade A-C.
  • Recognised engineering apprenticeship.
  • Formal engineering qualification.
