Tool Room Supervisor

A great opportunity is now available for an experienced Tool Maker / Tooling Engineer to take the first step into management. The position is based in North Oxfordshire for an expanding organisation, who have a modern, well equipped manufacturing facility.

The Tool Room Supervisor ensures optimum performance and safe operation of all Mould tools to assist in the efficient running of the plant whilst maintaining good housekeeping, liaising with other departments and complying with all Company Health and Safety Procedures. Carries out training and supporting Tool Room Engineers and Apprentices

Responsibilities

  • Supervises, supports and trains tool room staff and maintains all training documentation.
  • Carries out maintenance, installation and machine setting/operating tasks as and when necessary ensuring tools are in the correct location.
  • Carries out breakdown maintenance on all mould tools, jigs, fixtures etc.
  • Carries out planned, unplanned and preventative maintenance on all mould tools, jigs, fixtures etc.
  • Carries out projects associated with tools, tooling and/or manufacturing equipment as requested by the Manufacturing Manager.
  • Undertakes scheduled checks on tools and equipment.
  • Provides shift cover in the Tool Room when required.
  • Attends college/training courses where applicable.
  • Ensures that housekeeping of the department is kept up to standard.
  • Ensures conformance to the Company Quality System procedures as documented.
  • Ensures mandatory Personal Protective Equipment is worn when and where required, and that all duties are carried out in line with the Company's Health & Safety Policy.

Qualifications/Experience

  • Time served apprenticeship in tool making, machining, engineering
  • Knowledge of injection mould tooling
  • Knowledge of injection moulding processes
  • Knowledge of health and safety, Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (COSHH)
  • Basic Electrical knowledge/Computer Aided Design (CAD) use and ability to read technical drawings
  • Experience in the use of overhead cranes an advantage
  • Forklift licence an advantage
