Environment Health and Safety Officer

Up to £35,000 + early finish on a Friday

Full Time, Permanent

Our very successful manufacturing client is currently seeking an enthusiastic and forward thinking Environment, Health and Safety Officer to join their team on a permanent basis.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with the EHS Manager on the maintenance of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in understanding WCL policies, the environment manual, risk assessments, aspects & impacts, legislation, and procedures.
  • Provides advice, guidance, instruction, and training in all EHS matters to management, safety representatives and employees (including where applicable to sub-contractors, suppliers, and visitors to sites).
  • Conduct internal audits and site inspections in collaboration with Site Management, offering recommendations for corrective actions and improvements whilst documenting findings.
  • Maintain effective EHS systems, including the Incident Reporting System, completion of risk assessments (including COSHH), method statements and toolbox talks where appropriate.
  • Assist in the development and roll out of EHS improvement projects.
  • Investigate complaints arising from environmental impacts or incidents to minimise the negative impact on the reputation.
  • Collate relevant monthly data, statistics, and KPIs regarding the Environment, Health & Safety to present to the EHS Committee.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • A recognised Environmental qualification. IEMA preferred.
  • A NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety and working towards NVQ level 5 or NEBOSH Diploma.
  • At least 3 years' experience in an EHS role.
  • Experience within a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Have experience of working with ISO 14001.
  • Excellent IT and communication skills.
