About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Buyer to join a fast-paced manufacturing business. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a dynamic environment where priorities can change quickly and no two days are the same.
We're looking for an individual who can take ownership of the procurement function, improve existing processes, strengthen supplier relationships, and help drive operational performance through effective purchasing and planning.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the day-to-day procurement function while supporting long-term purchasing strategy.
Manage purchasing activities to ensure materials are available to meet production requirements.
Review and optimise MRP planning, improving system parameters and inventory management.
Maintain accurate master data to support efficient purchasing and planning processes.
Respond effectively to changing production demands, engineering changes and supply chain challenges.
Build and develop strong supplier relationships, negotiating pricing, lead times and delivery performance.
Work closely with Production, Engineering, Quality and Finance teams to ensure business objectives are met.
Analyse Bills of Materials (BOMs) to support cost control, sourcing decisions and planning activities.
Monitor supplier performance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Drive process improvements across procurement, inventory management and planning.
Produce procurement reports and provide commercial insights to support business decisions.
Support and develop members of the procurement team where required.
The successful candidate will have:
Previous experience in a Senior Buyer, Procurement Lead or Purchasing Manager position within a manufacturing environment.
Experience working within electronics manufacturing or a similar high-mix, low-volume production environment would be highly advantageous.
A strong understanding of MRP systems and material planning.
Experience working with complex Bills of Materials (BOMs).
Proven supplier negotiation and relationship management skills.
Excellent analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
The ability to prioritise effectively and make informed decisions in a fast-moving environment.
Strong communication skills with the confidence to build relationships across multiple departments.
A proactive approach with a genuine passion for continuous improvement and process optimisation.
