Carers Week 2025: Recognising and Supporting Carers Across the UK
Share Insights

From June 9th to 15th, the UK comes together to celebrate Carers Week 2025 - an important time to recognise the vital contributions carers make every day, whether unpaid or professional, within families and communities.

Carers provide essential support to loved ones, often balancing their responsibilities alongside work, education, and personal commitments. This year’s theme, Caring About Equality, highlights the significant inequalities faced by unpaid carers, including employment barriers, poorer mental and physical health, and limited access to education and training opportunities.

The Challenges of Balancing Work and Care

Did you know that nearly 2.5 million working people in England and Wales also provide unpaid care? That’s around 9% of the workforce juggling the complex demands of employment and caregiving.

Supporting carers in the workplace is critical. Initiatives like the Civil Service Carer’s Passport help create flexible working arrangements so carers can maintain their jobs while meeting their caring duties. However, a Carers UK survey found that 40% of carers have had to leave work to provide care, highlighting the significant challenges carers face.

Supporting Carers Returning to Work

Returning to employment after a period of caring can be challenging. Many carers face gaps in skills, confidence, or experience. At Vibe Care, we provide tailored career advice and ongoing support to help carers find meaningful roles across healthcare and social care.

We also work closely with care settings to supply skilled and compassionate staff, supporting both carers and care providers. Our aim is to help build strong teams that deliver excellent care, foster supportive working environments, and take the pressure off unpaid carers wherever possible.

Why Supporting Carers Matters

Carers are the backbone of the UK’s care sector. Whether you are a professional carer or providing unpaid care at home, your role is invaluable. Recognising the challenges carers face and providing meaningful support benefits carers, employers, and the wider community.
