Product Specification Technologist

Purpose
Provide technical and architectural support across the full lifecycle of steel door products, from specification and design through to manufacture, installation, and compliance. Ensure all products meet fire, security, and performance standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and document detailed product build specifications and technical data.

• Create and maintain product data templates, specification sheets, and hardware schedules.

• Ensure all product documentation aligns with current standards and compliance requirements.

• Maintain accurate and compliant marketing and website technical content.

• Support BIM requirements and maintain Revit families for door ranges.

• Manage and respond to technical queries within agreed timescales.

• Provide technical guidance to internal teams, customers, and external stakeholders.

• Identify and support new product development opportunities.

• Offer expertise on fire door regulations and certification compliance.

Skills & Experience

• Strong technical knowledge of doors and hardware.

• Proficient in CAD, parametric modelling, and Microsoft Office.

• Clear communicator with the ability to present technical information effectively.

• Understanding of compliance standards and certification processes.

• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and multitasking skills.

• Experience collaborating with sales, design, production, and installation teams.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or related field.

• Desirable:

  • CiAH Stage 1 & 2 (Architectural Hardware)

  • GAI Stage 3 Diploma in Door Systems or Scheduling

  • Abloy Academy Foundation - Access Control Standards

  • Experience in technical support or specification roles within construction or manufacturing.

  • Knowledge of certification schemes (fire/security doors).

Salary

£35,000 - £40,000 per annum

Hours of work

7.30am - 4pm Monday to Thursday, 2pm finish on Friday 37.5 hours per week.
